What people usually ask.
Can't find your answer? Email info@helmlongevity.se or book a short consultation and we go through it together.
Where is the practice located? Do we meet in person?
My patient visits happen by video. You can book me from anywhere in Sweden. Blood draws happen at Synlab on a drop-in basis (fasting, in the morning) or at any of Synlab's partner clinics.
What is the difference between functional medicine and conventional healthcare?
Functional medicine is a systematic way of looking for the root causes of complaints, not just treating symptoms. I use the same diagnostic tools as conventional medicine, but I often interpret them more broadly and complement them with a lifestyle analysis. I do not replace your regular care, I complement it.
Do you replace my GP or 1177?
No. I am a complement to public healthcare, not a replacement. You keep your GP (vårdcentral / 1177 in Sweden). For acute conditions, always turn to 1177 or the emergency room.
Can you see patients who live outside Sweden?
It depends on where you live. My full medical practice (diagnosis, prescriptions, and journaled care) is for patients in Sweden, under my Swedish medical license. If you live outside Sweden, I can still work with you, but in an advisory role only: I interpret your lab results, explain what they mean, and give you a written plan grounded in the science. This is a second opinion and an educational service, not a diagnosis, a prescription, or a treating doctor-patient relationship under your local law. You keep your own doctor for medical care where you live. You arrange your lab work locally (I provide a clear specification of what to order) and we meet by video.
Can you write prescriptions?
Yes. I am a licensed physician and prescribe prescription medications when it is medically warranted and compatible with Swedish law.
Which option should I choose?
Want to talk first and find out if we are a good fit? Choose the Consultation (1,500 SEK). Want a personalized plan? Choose the Health Assessment (7,000 SEK), the most common choice. Want to go deeper and measure how you are aging? Choose Biological Age (12,500 SEK).
What is the difference between your health assessment and services like Werlabs?
Werlabs delivers blood tests and an automated report. You interpret the results yourself. With me, you get the same tests plus 45 minutes with a specialist physician who interprets them in your context, a written personalized health plan, and the option of follow-up over time. The difference is not the tests, it is what happens after.
How long until I can get an appointment?
Availability varies. Sometimes there are appointments within a week; at other times the wait may be a month or more. I keep the number of appointments limited so that each patient gets my full attention.
What is included in the standard panel?
A comprehensive blood panel with about 44 markers, analyzed from a functional medicine perspective. Includes a full blood count (8 components), liver (ALT, AST, GGT, ALP, bilirubin, albumin), kidney and electrolytes (creatinine, sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphate), B12, folate, vitamin D, homocysteine, ferritin, iron, inflammatory markers (hsCRP, ESR, urate), thyroid (TSH, plus free T3, free T4 and TPO antibodies for women), blood sugar, insulin, and HbA1c, lipids including ApoA1/B, ApoB/ApoA1 ratio, and Lp(a), and sex hormones: FSH and estradiol for women; PSA, SHBG, and testosterone (total and bioavailable) for men. The women's panel can be extended with DHEA-s, prolactin, and cortisol.
Do you accept insurance?
Some private health insurance plans may reimburse the visit. Check with your insurer in advance. I do not accept patients via Vårdval or Försäkringskassan (Swedish public health insurance).
How is my data handled?
I follow the Swedish Patient Data Act and GDPR. Your medical record is kept in EasyPractice, an approved electronic medical records system for Swedish healthcare. You always have the right to request a copy of your record. Read more in our privacy policy.
Can you treat my specific condition?
I do not assess individual diagnoses through the website. Book a visit and we go through your situation together. I always work within the scope of what Swedish law and my medical license allow.
